NATIONAL OPTIMIST COASTAL CHAMPIONSHIP –2006
INDIVIDUAL AND TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
SELECTION TRIALS FOR 2006 IODA ASIAN SAILING CHAMPIONSHIPS

EVENT & VENUE:

The “National Optimist Coastal Championship –2006” will be held from the 29th April to 7th May 2006 at Mumbai. The shore venue is the INWTC – Mumbai.

The Championship will consist of
a) Individual Event - all boats will race in one fleet.
b) Team Championship: A team will consist of 4 participants and a reserve. (The reserve being optional). A member club may enter up to a maximum of 3 teams. The format of the Team Championship will be based on the number of teams entering and the format and the Schedule of Racing will be given in the Supplementary Sailing Instructions.

The Championship (the Individual event) will also be the Selection Trials for the “IODA Asian Sailing Championship –2006”and any other International Championship excluding the Asian GAMES –2006”. Based on the results of the National Championship/Selection Trials, sailors will be selected to participate in International Events subject to Government permission and availability of funds. These results will be valid till the next event/trials are sailed.

Basis of selection for the “2006 IODA ASIAN SAILING CHAMPIONSHIP” will be 5 sailors with a maximum of 4 being of the same gender.

ORGANISING AUTHORITY:

The Championship will be organized by the RBYC/BSA/CSC in conjunction with the Yachting Association of India and the National Optimist Association of India.

PRIZES:

Prizes will be given as follows:
a) N P Tolani Trophy (Winner of the Coastal Nationals Individual Event)
b) Chowgule Trophy (Best sailor below 12 years)
c) Sea Cadet Trophy (Best girl sailor)
d) CME National Optimist Team Championship Trophy (Winner of the Team event)
e) 1st, 2nd & 3rd prizes for the National Championship and each individual race.
f) Youngest sailor who completes all races that count towards the overall score in the Individual event.
